Let’s Level the Playing Field on Sales Tax
Florida law requires all businesses to collect sales tax and remit the revenues to the state. Brick-and-mortar businesses must collect sales taxes at the point of sale. But a loophole allows many online, out-of-state retailers to sell products in Florida without charging sales tax or remitting it to the state. This loophole puts our local businesses at a major disadvantage and costs the state an estimated $1 billion in lost sales tax revenues. Small businesses can’t afford this and neither can our state. Let’s level the playing field to help our businesses, families and state recover and thrive.
