Feathr Adds 30 New Jobs, Requiring Major Downtown Expansion
The company anticipates doubling its current size within the next year
GAINESVILLE, FL – Feathr, a global software company, has selected downtown Gainesville as the site for its expansion, brought about because of the addition of 30 new jobs over the last two years. The company currently has over 50 employees and anticipates crossing 100 within the next 12 months. Additionally, the expansion will allow the company to unite employees from three separate Gainesville satellite offices together into Trimark’s Nimbus building, totaling approximately 14,000 square feet.
“Our ‘Gainesville Thesis’ is still holding strong 3.5 years after we made the big decision to move back from Austin and grow our company here. The incredible quality of life advantage and perpetual stream of top talent coming from the University of Florida and Santa Fe College are significant competitive advantages for any fast-growing early-to-mid-stage startup. It’s such a supportive community, with fellow startup founders and business leaders always willing to help each other out,” said Aidan Augustin, Feathr Co-Founder and President.
Feathr began in 2012 while co-founders Aidan Augustin and Aleksander Levental were still students at the University of Florida. In 2014, Feathr moved to Austin, TX after receiving funding from Capital Factory, an incubator/accelerator/fund located there. While Austin had plenty to offer, after one year Augustin and Levental concluded that the cost of living, talent pool, and culture of Gainesville provided a better environment Feathr to scale up. They returned to Gainesville in 2015 and have happily called it home ever since.
Located between the university and downtown, the 2nd Avenue corridor is one of the Gainesville Community Redevelopment Agency’s designated enterprise zones, making it the perfect area for the high-tech jobs that Feathr will continue to grow.
Both Trimark Properties and The UF Innovation Hub have played an integral role in assisting Feathr with the decision to expand.
“Feathr’s leadership understands that Gainesville is a leader in innovation-based industry and an emerging epicenter job growth,” said Staci Bertrand, Vice President of Economic Development, Greater Gainesville Chamber. “They are the perfect example of organic economic growth.”
“The Greater Gainesville Community is proud to see all the great things that Feathr is doing here. They are a major playing in the Gainesville IT sector,” said Eric Godet, Sr., President & CEO, Greater Gainesville Chamber.
