Campus USA Credit Union sponsors senior scholarships at fourth annual Career Discoveries Day

Taking place Saturday, Career Discoveries Days features keynote speaker, No. 1 New York Times Best Selling Author and Eastside Graduate, Nathan Whitaker, industry speakers, FAFSA completion and Budgeting for College workshops and local vendors.

The Gainesville Chamber’s Alachua County Education Compact, Santa Fe College, and the Alachua County Public Schools are proud to announce Campus USA Credit Union as a platinum sponsor of the fourth annual Career Discoveries Day. Campus USA Credit Union’s sponsorship will allow the organizations to offer two scholarships to a senior on a pathway to post-secondary education.

Career Discoveries Day is a three-hour showcase that provides middle and high school students and parents information for career pathways to college and career readiness opportunities. Students are provided the opportunity to learn about exciting conventional and unconventional career options in Alachua County. Students will hear from No. 1 New York Times Best Selling Author and Eastside Graduate Nathan Whitaker as keynote speaker. His publications include Through My Eyes with Tim Tebow and Quiet Strength with Tony Dungy. John Spence, Joe Cirulli and Joleen Cacciatore Miller have served as past keynote speakers.

Students will hear from industry sector speakers, engage with local, business professionals and attend college-preparedness workshops. A FAFSA completion workshop is available to seniors in need of completing their student aid scholarship application for college, and a “Budgeting for College” workshop is available to all students. Over the last three years, more than 550 students and parents attended Career Discoveries Day and interacted with more than 29 business professionals and 49 vendors.

This year, more than 400 students and more than 40 vendors registered to be a part of Career Discoveries Day tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Eastside High School, 1201 SE 43rd Street, Gainesville, Florida 32641.

“We want to thank Campus USA Credit Union for their support of this important event, and encourage business owners, parents and students to stop by Eastside High School and learn more about all the programs and opportunities for our students,” said Eric Godet, President/CEO of the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Interested students and parents can still register at http://careerdiscoveriesday.eventbrite.com.
