The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce has taken on the operational role of FloridaWorks Business Services for Alachua County, and has assembled a team to provide convenient solutions to employers for all of your hiring needs. The Business Services team can expedite or improve your hiring process. You can work one-on-one with the FloridaWorks staff to write comprehensive job descriptions, determine minimum qualifications, and establish salary ranges based on local averages.

As a Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce Member you have a network of people helping you to making it easier for you to do business every day.

This gives you an advantage over other local businesses because of the vast network of people available to support your business.

One of the resources at your fingertips is the Business Services branch of FloridaWorks located at the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce. The basic services are no-cost and our more intensive services are low-cost, depending on the need.

Can you help me list a job?  
We can help you with industry standards and resources to write an effective job description as well as list jobs in a statewide database that is advertised both locally and statewide. Our online tool called Employ Florida Marketplace can help you screen candidates with ease, without having a daunting 200 applications on your desk or waiting in your inbox! We can also list your job opening as a ‘Hot Job’ which gets advertised across Florida, at our One-Stop Career Centers, as well as through the GACC e-journal, Facebook and Twitter.

Can you help me find the best candidate?
You can use the online tools readily available to you via our statewide database Employ Florida Marketplace or you can let us assist you with pre-screening. You can even arrange to come speak or conduct mini-interviews with our pool of professional candidates at CONNECT, our networking program for people with an AA or higher or 5 years experience in their field. In the event you are hiring multiple people, we can also advertise and host a recruitment event at the  FloridaWorks One Stop Career Center.

Our business is starting or expanding and we need to train our staff on a tight budget. Are there any grants available to help my small business?
We’ll give you information and connect you to our local resources for Quick Response Training (QRT) grants that are structured to be flexible and respond quickly to meet the business’s training objectives. We can also share some information and resources for Incumbent Worker Training Grants (IWT) to help avoid layoffs and significantly upgrade your workers skills. We can also assist you in standardized testing for training resources and credentialing like Florida Ready To Work.
