Assist in the Hurricane Hermine Recovery EffortSeptember 6th, 2016 by gainesvillechamber
As a member of the Florida Private Sector State Emergency Response Team, the Manufacturers Association of Florida (MAF) is engaged in the disaster communication system for Florida. Today the state is asking for donations from businesses to aid in Hurricane Hermine recovery operations as many parts of the affected area are still without power and debris removal is extensive.
The Florida Virtual Business Emergency Operations Center (FLVBEOC) has activated the Resource System for businesses to share resources in the aftermath of Hurricane Hermine. The primary purpose of the tool is to enhance business to business resource sharing. Volunteer Florida and other statewide volunteer organizations are in need of securing several donation items to assist survivors after the storm. The FLVBEOC Resource System is now also being used to provide a centralized location for resource requests from voluntary agencies, and to give businesses in the area who want to help an avenue to assist their neighbors.
Resources are both requested and offered through the system. First, please register the business with the FLVBEOC to utilize the resource management system.
Once registered in the FLVBEOC, to access the tool, log in to the FLVBEOC and click “Resource System” under the “Businesses” tab.
Current “needs” within the system include: household furniture, linens, non-perishable food, cleaning supplies and personal hygiene items.
To offer a bulk quantity of the listed items, identify the items in the system and complete the “offer” form. Then, contact the requestor using the contact information provided in the “need” form.
If the item you would like to provide is not currently listed as a “need”, you can list a new item in the “offer” section of the tool. Volunteer organizations will then be able to contact you if your newly listed item is needed for response.
If you have any questions, please contact the Private Sector Hotline at (850) 410-1403, or email ESF 18 at email@example.com.
