Current Vacancies on the Alachua County Local Planning Agency/Planning CommissionJuly 19th, 2016 by gainesvillechamber
One way to ensure the business community’s voice is heard on local issues is to be represented on county and city advisory boards and committees. “Notifying Chamber members about County and City advisory boards and committees is a priority,” confirms Chamber Vice President for Public Policy Kamal I. Latham. “These boards and committees play an important role in advising our commissions, and when our members participate, the business viewpoint is better represented.”
Currently, three positions are available on the Alachua County Local Planning Agency/Planning Commission. The LPA/Planning Commission is responsible for making recommendations to the County Commission for updates to the comprehensive plan and reviewing and making recommendations on re-zonings, special use permits, special exceptions and on land development regulations upon the request of the Board of County Commissioners.
The Planning Commission is comprised of eight members serving four-year terms. The three voluntary positions open at the end of July are for:
* One state-licensed building industry-related professional
* One non-state licensed planning or environmental expert
* Citizen from either of the above categories
The LPA/Planning Commission meets once a month on the third Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the County Administration Building 12 SE 1st St., Gainesville, Florida 32601
