Urge Florida Senate to Vote YES on GRU Bill

FloridaCapitolBigGainesville Area Chamber of Commerce members are encouraged to urge State Senator Rob Bradley (850-487-5007, and his Senate colleagues to vote YES to approve the Gainesville Chamber-backed GRU governance ballot referendum bill (CS/CS/HB 1355).

The GRU governance bill was introduced by Rep. Keith Perry and passed the House of Representatives on Friday, March 4.

The bill would require a referendum for City of Gainesville voters to determine whether to create the Gainesville Regional Utilities Authority .

Gainesville voters should be afforded the opportunity to vote on the ballot statement indicated in this bill.

The Gainesville Sun published a February 25th editorial entitled “Let Voters Decide on GRU Board.”

The Chamber commends 2015 Public Leader of the Year Award recipient State Rep. Keith Perry for introducing and advancing the bill in the House of Representatives.
