Clay Martin has joined the law firm of Folds & Walker, LLC as Of Counsel to the firm. He will focus on real estate transactions, business formation, contract, and government relations matters. Martin joins the firm after nearly 6 years serving state and federal elected officials in advisory and management capacities – 3 years as a campaign and policy advisor to Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam and almost 3 years directing district affairs for Congressman Ted S. Yoho.
Prior to his service to Commissioner Putnam and Congressman Yoho, Martin accumulated 10 years of experience as a legal advisor to both large and small businesses in business formation, relationship development, and contract matters. Watching entrepreneurs thrive after helping them develop a viable business model and assemble a team of advisors is one of the most rewarding experiences in his professional life.
Martin’s twenty year career in law, politics, and policy has included service as an elected City Commissioner for the City of Newberry at the age of twenty, a member of Alachua County’s Charter Review Commission, a member and Chairman of the Board of CareerSource North Central Florida’s Board of Directors, a member of the Alachua County Economic Development Advisory Committee, a member of the Alachua County Tourist Development Council, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce. Martin is also an alumnus of Leadership Gainesville’s Class 24. He is a sixth generation Floridian and a graduate of Newberry High School, Santa Fe College, the University of Florida College of Agriculture, and the University of Florida College of Law.
