An Important Message from the Alachua County Emergency ManagementFebruary 27th, 2016 by gainesvillechamber
Alachua County Emergency Management uses the CodeRED Emergency Notification System which is an ultra-high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications and the distribution of information considered to be important.
This system allows us to telephone all or targeted areas of the County in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action, such as an evacuation, contaminated water, hazardous chemical spill, etc.
How will my business benefit from CodeRED?
Businesses today must plan for more than just supply and demand. Hurricanes, floods, fires, human-caused hazards and other potential disasters pose serious threats to businesses everywhere.
Businesses and residents that sign up for CodeRED will receive a telephone call in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action, such as an evacuation, contaminated water, hazardous chemical spill, etc. This system is capable of dialing targeted areas or the entire County within minutes. It then delivers a pre-recorded message describing the situations to a live person or an answering machine in the affected area, possibly including instructions requiring immediate action on the part of the recipient. Additionally, the County utilizes the Weather Warning service from CodeRED. This allows CodeRED to call you if there is a tornado, thunderstorm or flood warning issued for your area.
