Jones Edmunds Appoints John Horvath to Utilities Department Manager

Firm to Leverage Horvath’s Expertise to Serve Florida’s Utilities Infrastructure Needs

Jones Edmunds and Associates, Inc., a Florida-based engineering and environmental sciences consulting firm, today announced the appointment of John Horvath, PE, as the utilities department manager for the firm’s Gainesville office.

“John is an expert in his field and will offer exceptional leadership to our Gainesville Utilities team as we expand and continue to support the growing utilities infrastructure needs of communities throughout Florida,” said Ken Vogel, PE, Jones Edmunds Senior Vice President and Gainesville Operations Manager.

A University of Florida graduate with a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Horvath has been with Jones Edmunds for 27 years. During this time, he has served as project manager, QC engineer, project engineer and lead design engineer on a variety of multi-disciplined projects. Currently, he serves as the project manager for several utility projects for the Bay Laurel Center Community Development District (BLCCDD) at the On Top of the World Communities (OTOW) in Ocala. His areas of expertise include the planning, analysis, permitting, and design of wastewater collection, treatment, and effluent reuse and disposal systems.


McKnight Earns Composting Certification

Jones Edmunds and Associates, Inc., a Florida-based engineering and environmental sciences consulting firm, today announced Solid Waste Engineer, Tobin McKnight, PE, is now credentialed as a Composting Programs Manager through the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA).

The certification program covers topics and concepts crucial to successfully managing composting programs, including compost uses, markets and compost quality, composting principles and methods, operations and troubleshooting, and regulatory management.

“We are proud of Tobin’s achievement and appreciate the knowledge and expertise he provides to our solid waste clients,” said Mark Hadlock, PE, Department Manager. “This certification demonstrates his dedication to the solid waste profession and his ability to meet SWANA standards in a broad range of compost management concepts.”

McKnight is a University of Florida graduate and holds a Master of Engineering degree. He has been with Jones Edmunds for 10 years and recently served as a project manager for the construction of the Lee-Hendry Composting Facility Expansion in Lee County.

“Many of our existing and potential clients are considering adding composting as part of their integrated solid waste management systems,” said McKnight. This certification has given me a more in-depth understanding of composting facility design and operation so we can effectively provide these clients with services from planning through design and operation.”
