At last Wednesday’s Envision Alachua Task Force meeting, members and the public in attendance received an update on the status of the Envision Alachua Sector Plan.
Tim Jackson, Director of Real Estate, at Plum Creek provided an in-depth update on land-use applications for the plan. Jackson’s presentation explained how the Envision Alachua Sector Plan would improve upon Alachua County’s current Comprehensive plan by accommodating significant major job centers, addressing economic disparity and permanently protecting 22,364+ acres more than the current plan. The presentation illustrated similarities and differences between the two plans using maps and bullets.
During the meeting, Chamber Vice President for Business Development and Operations Adrian Taylor also provided an update on the Chamber’s economic development efforts, including the Transforming Greater Gainesville Regional Branding Project currently underway as well as several potential company relocations that could bring about 375 new jobs and $190 million in new capital investment to the region.
