Horror Film Line-Up Haunts the Hippodrome Cinema this October!

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Sept. 23, 2015) – Hippodrome Cinema patrons are in for a treat during this year’s festive programming in October. All month long, the cinema will feature recently-released horror films as well as special programming that will have audiences filled with anticipation. The lineup includes four interactive showings of “THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW,” a one-night Halloween edition of Cocktails & Classics featuring Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece “THE BIRDS,” a cosmetic surgery gone wrong in “GOODNIGHT MOMMY” as well as Taissa Farmiga (“American Horror Story”) pulled into a gristly 1980s slasher film in “THE FINAL GIRLS.”

“THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW”
Grab your fishnets, and pelvic thrust to the cinema’s creature feature presentation of “THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW!” Time warp back to the 1970s cult classic and shimmy the night away to the voices of Magenta, Frank N Furter & Riff Raff on the silver screen. Dust off your gold sequin top hat, snap on your rubber gloves and lace up your corset for a chance to win our costume contest. Prop bags will be supplied by the Hippodrome and participation is (strongly) encouraged. Admission is $15 and seating is limited. Show times include Friday, Oct. 23, Saturday, Oct. 24, Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31 at 11:00PM.

“COCKTAILS & CLASSICS: THE BIRDS”
Join us for a special HALLOWEEN EDITION of Cocktails & Classics this October!Discover the mystery behind the vicious birds at the Hippodrome Cinema’s showing of Alfred Hitchcock’s THE BIRDS! On Saturday, October 10, enjoy our one-night showing of this Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe-winning film. Join us for a cocktail reception in the bar gallery at 7PM followed by the film showing at 8PM in the Cinema. Catering will be provided by Fables Catering & Such. Audience members are encouraged to dress in their best 1960s clothing, favorite Halloween costume or come as “The Master of Suspense” himself! Admission is $20 and seating is limited!

“GOODNIGHT MOMMY”
In the heat of the summer, a lonesome house in the countryside between woods and corn fields. Nine-year-old twin brothers are waiting for their mother. When she comes home, bandaged after cosmetic surgery, nothing is like before. The children start to doubt that this woman is actually their mother. “THE FINAL GIRLS”
A young woman grieving the loss of her mother, a famous scream queen from the 1980s, finds herself pulled into the world of her mom’s most famous movie. Reunited, the women must fight off the film’s maniacal killer. (c) Rotten Tomatoes. “THE FINAL GIRLS” opens Friday, Oct. 23.
