Join us at Career Discoveries on Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Loften High School
Industry-leading, business professionals have committed to share their expertise and knowledge of their trade with local middle and high schools students and their parents at Career Discoveries.
Career Discoveries, hosted by the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Talent Alignment and Education committee, is taking place Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Professional Academies Magnet at Loften High School, 3000 E. University Ave. All interested business professionals, middle and high school students and parents are welcomed to attend.
Career Discoveries, sponsored by Domino’s, features a company representative from each of the following industries:
- Advanced Logistics – Walmart (Distribution Center)
- Advanced Materials – RTI Surgical
- Agricultural Life Sciences – University of Florida
- Human Life Sciences – University of Florida (Center of Excellence for Regenerative Health Biotechnology)
- Software & IT – Gainesville Dev Academy
Each speaker will have an opportunity to pitch emerging careers in his/her industry to entice students to his/her break out session. Then each break out session will feature a panel of peer business owners and professionals who will discuss career pathways in the five-targeted industries (identified above), share their story of success and answer questions from the audience.
Career Discoveries is planned by the Talent Alignment and Education committee, which oversees the programs and projects of the Chamber’s workforce development division – specifically to support and enhance education and the development of a more productive, skilled and inclusive workforce in Alachua County, FL.
