CEO Investors Receive Updates on Marketing Efforts and UF Priorities at Third Quarter LuncheonSeptember 14th, 2015 by gainesvillechamber
On Wednesday, September 9, the Council for Economic Outreach held its third quarterly investors’ luncheon for 2015 at Embers Restaurant. The guest speaker was Charlie Lane, SVP & COO for the University of Florida. Lane–who came to UF in early 2014 after more than 12 years at the University of Southern California–focused on his work at UF, naming top current priorities, among them infrastructure and safety.
Guests also received updates on major recent developments in the Transforming Greater Gainesville economic development strategy, including the beginning of the branding project that will lead to the creation of a brand that will be used to market Greater Gainesville as a business and lifestyle destination. The Transforming Greater Gainesville regional marketing initiative–for which research efforts are currently underway–is one of five components of the plan, which collectively is designed to capitalize on the region’s immediate and palpable economic opportunity by increasing its recognition and combating the misperception that it is too small to be a global player. Future updates on the branding project will be forthcoming.
