Two Local Companies chosen by GrowFL as 2015 Florida Companies to Watch Finalists

GrowFLGrowFL has announced the 2015 Florida Companies to Watch finalists, and two of them are Gainesville companies: Goodwin Heart Pine, a regional manufacturer and 2 College Brothers, a transportation and warehousing company. Florida Companies to Watch honors 50 second-stage companies throughout Florida for development of valuable product and services, job creation, community enrichment and industry expansion. The program was created in 2009 by the Florida Legislature and has helped many different companies prosper in the state of Florida. Local finalists include:

  • Goodwin Heart Pine, which has been making luxury antique wood flooring since 1976, when founder George Goodwin discovered the unique beauty, rarity and historical significance of “underwater” heart pine. Since then, Goodwin Company has earned the reputation as being one of the world’s most respected heart pine and heart cypress in the world. Installed in luxury homes and find businesses, and specified in historical renovations throughout the country, Goodwin’s River-Recovered® wood has also been featured in several publications and on many television shows.
  • 2 College Brothers, which was founded in 2010 by Kevin and Bryan Weschler, who started by simply helping neighbors move using their mom’s minivan. Since then, the company has grown into a professional moving company on a mission to simplify the moving experience through reliable and friendly service. In order to follow that mission, the company prepares healthy young employees for successful futures by encouraging their skills in leadership, business and communication.

More than 500 companies were nominated this year as Florida Companies to Watch, and the 101 finalists represent $694 million in annual revenue and employ 3,280 full-time equivalent employees.
