Support Market FloridaJune 8th, 2015 by gainesvillechamber
The Florida Chamber of Commerce has asked the Gainesville Business Community to communicate today with state legislators to encourage them to market Florida’s business climate to other states. The Special legislative session currently underway will end June 20 or earlier, so time is of the essence.
Why is this important to you? The Chamber’s vision for its members and all of Greater Gainesville hinges on 3,500 new primary jobs, $218 million in new primary salaries and $250 million in new capital investment by 2020. Marketing our state increases our chances of meeting, and possibly exceeding these goals through new opportunities that could translate to new customers with new jobs and new salaries to spend at your business within the next five years.
We are asking state legislators to invest a minimum of $20 million annually. By comparison, California spends $50 million in this area and New York is in the middle of a $200 million ad campaign. We all know neither of these states can match Florida’s business climate.
Let’s add Greater Gainesville’s voice to amplify this important call to action. Please take a moment today to contact your legislators to encourage them to support the “Market Florida” initiative.
