A Critical Connection: STEM Education and the Future of Advanced Manufacturing

A Critical Connection: STEM Education and the Future of Advanced Manufacturing

Advanced manufacturing is key to a diversified economy, yet companies are facing extreme challenges in finding talent needed to get the job done. Over the next decade it is estimated that nearly 3.5 million manufacturing jobs will need to be filled. The skills gap is expected to result in 2 million of those jobs going unfilled. How can we prepare our region’s workforce for this demand? Does more STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) training need to infuse education at all levels to prepare our workforce to meet this demand and seize opportunity offered by advanced manufacturing careers?

Join workforce and regional manufacturing experts at our Second Quarter general membership meeting on Thursday, May 21 at 5 p.m. to hear perspectives from Susan E. Pareigis, President/CEO of Florida Council of 100 on how we close the workforce gap, and learn from Quick Response Training Program Director Debbie McMullian how eligible expanding companies can access $1,500-$1,800 per new hire.
