For a second year in a row, North Florida Regional Medical Center has been named a top performer in four categories by a national hospital accreditation association. The Joint Commission highly rated NFRMC in the treatment of heart attacks, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. The hospital is one of 244 hospitals across the nation to top the list for the two years it has existed.
“It is a high recognition to be accredited by this governing body. It is the main accrediting body for hospitals nationwide,” said Ward Boston III, NFRMC president and CEO. “We are very satisfied because the Joint Commission is a very rigorous organization.”
“I think it speaks to our abilities to sustain our overall performance in the measures that they looked at,” said Scarlott Mueller, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. “We opened a chest pain unit, and I think that has helped with our ability to provide the service. For that particular measure, I think that has helped with the Joint Commission.”
